Russia Inflation Rate at 6.6 Percent in December


Russian inflation rate rose to 6.6 percent year-on-year in December, up from 6.5 percent in November. In monthly terms, prices rose 0.5 percent.

In December, a significant increase in prices was observed for fruit and vegetables. Grapes was higher by 9.6%, fresh cabbage by 5.7%, beets, onions, potatoes - by 4.1-4.5%, lemons - 2.7%. At the same time oranges fell by 3.1%.

The cost of a minimum food basket in Russia on average at the end of December 2012 amounted to 2,609 rubles per month. The value increased by 1.5% month-on-month and by 7.8% from the beginning of the year.
