Euro Area Inflation Rate Down to 2.0 Percent in January


Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 2.0 percent in January 2013, down from 2.2 percent in December 2012, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, energy (3.9 percent compared with 5.2 percent in December) is expected to have the highest annual rate in January, followed by  food, alcohol & tobacco (3.2 percent, stable compared with December), services (1.7 percent compared with 1.8 percent in December) and non-energy industrial goods (0.8 percent compared with 1.0 percent in December).
