Of those who were employed in February 2013; 22.5 percent was employed in agriculture, 19.9 percent was employed in industry, 6.2 percent was employed in construction and 51.3 percent was employed in services. Employment in construction increased by 0.6 percentage point and services increased by 0.2 percentage point while that of agriculture decreased by 0.8 percentage point and industry decreased by 0.2 percentage. The highest increase for employed persons by economic activity realized in services sector: +67 thousand persons.
Labour force participation rate (LFPR) was recorded at 49.6 percent with 1.7 percentage points increase compared to the same period of the previous year, for Turkey in the February 2013 period. LFPR was 70.3 percent with 1.2 percentage points increase for male and 29.6 percent with a 2.2 percentage points increase for female, compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to data gathered by The Ministry of Finance, total public sector employment was 3 million 223 thousand persons with 3.6 percentage points increase in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of the previous year.
