The country's trade gap stood at 551.1 billion yen ($6.69 billion) last month after a 559 billion yen ($6.78 billion) deficit in September. Exports fell 6.5 percent form a year earlier in October to 5.149 trillion yen ($62.50 billion). Japanese exports to China-the nation's largest trading partner-fell 11.6 percent in September, the fifth-straight monthly drop.
Japan's overall trade balance with China stood at a deficit of 407.4 billion yen, the seventh-consecutive monthly shortfall.
