Belarus GDP Annual Growth Rate at 0.30 percent


The economy of Belarus expanded 0.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2017, following a 1.9 percent contraction in the previous period, a preliminary estimate showed.

Belarus Industrial Production at 4.30 percent


Industrial production in Belarus increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year in the three months to March 2017, compared with a 4.3 percent drop in the same period of the previous year. Manufacturing output grew 5.1 percent, mainly due to increases in production of chemical products (23.5 percent), machinery and equipment (9.8 percent), and basic metals, fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (5.6 percent); while output of coke and petroleum products continued to contract sharply (-32 percent). Meanwhile, mining and quarrying went up 2.1 percent and electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioning supply rose 1.8 percent, while water supply, waste management and remediation activities fell 3.5 percent.
