Belarus Industrial Production at 5.90 percent
Industrial production in Belarus increased 5.9 percent year-on-year in January of 2017, recovering from a 6.8 percent drop in the same period of the previous year. It was the first increase since December 2014.
Compared to January of 2016, output rebounded in manufacturing (+8.5 percent from -8.9 percent), namely chemical products (+31 percent from -14.7 percent), wood and paper; printing activity and reproduction of recorded media (+23.6 percent from -8.2 percent) and transport equipment (+22.8 percent from -19.3 percent). In addition, water collection and activities, declined less (-3.7 percent from -6.4 percent). Meanwhile, mining and quarrying fell further (-4.9 percent from -4 percent) and electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioning supply went down (-2.5 percent from +5.9 percent).
