Dominican Republic Inflation Rate at 1.70 percent


Consumer prices in Dominican Republic increased 1.7 percent year-on-year in December of 2016, after a 0.9 percent rise in the previous month. It was the higher inflation rate since July of 2016. Prices advanced at a faster pace for: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+4.4 percent vs +4 percent in November); housing (+5 percent vs +3.5 percent); transport (+5.4 percent vs +4.1 percent); communications (+2.9 percent vs +1.2 percent); health (+3.9 percent vs +3.8 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (+2.7 percent vs +2.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.9 percent, compared to a 0.1 increase in November.
