Consumer prices in Georgia increased 0.2 percent year-on-year in November of 2016, following a 0.2 percent decline in the previous month. It is the highest inflation rate in three months. Main upward pressure came from cost of health (1.5 percent compared to 1.3 percent in October); recreation and culture (3.2 percent compared to -0.7 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (10.5 percent compared to 10.9 percent); education (1 percent compared to 0.8 percent); restaurants and hotels (3.2 percent compared to 2.8 percent) and communication (3.9 percent compared to 3.9 percent). In addition, prices fell less for transport (-3.7 percent compared to -6.7 percent) and recreation and culture (-0.6 percent compared to -0.7 percent) but declined more for housing and utilities (-1 percent compared to -0.7 percent) and decreased for food (-0.1 percent compared to 0.2 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6 percent.
