Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan rose 23.9 percent year-on-year in December of 2016, following a 28.8 percent jump in November. It is the smallest gain in five months as production slowed for mining and quarrying (5.9 percent from 39.1 percent in November), manufacturing (32 percent from 32.7 percent) and shrank for utilities (-0.2 percent from 6.2 percent) but rose faster for water supply and sewerage (21.4 percent from 17.9 percent).

Kyrgyzstan Inflation Rate at -0.50 percent


Consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan decreased 0.5 percent year-on-year in December of 2016, at the same pace as in the previous month. Main downward pressure came from housing and utilities (-4.3 percent from -2.6 percent in November) and transport (-4.8 percent from -4.1 percent) while prices declined less for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-5 percent from -5.6 percent). In addition, prices increased at a slower pace for: clothing and footwear (+8.4 percent from +9.1 percent in November); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+4.3 percent from +6 percent); health (+23 percent from +24.9 percent); culture and recreation (+3.5 percent from +4.1 percent) and education (+5.2 percent from +5.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 1 percent, following a 0.5 percent rise in November.

Kyrgyzstan's economy advanced 3.8 percent year-on-year in 2016, compared to 3.5 percent growth a year earlier. Industrial output increased 4.9 percent (-4.2 percent in 2015), driven by metal ores, manufacture of refined petroleum products, food products and production of precious metals. Also, the growth was observed in wholesales and retail trade (+7.2 percent vs +6.6 percent in 2015) and agriculture (+3 percent vs +6.2 percent).

Kyrgyzstan Producer Prices Change at -0.30 percent


Producer prices in Kyrgyzstan decreased 0.3 percent year-on-year in December of 2016, slowing from 6 percent decline in the previous month. Prices rebounded for manufacturing (+0.3 percent from -7 percent), mainly led by coke and refined petroleum products and metals. Meanwhile, cost fell further for mining (-14.5 percent from -8.5 percent in November), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-1 percent from -0.7 percent) and rose at a slower pace for water supply and residuals treatment (+6.2 percent from +6.5 percent).
