Sales went up at a slower pace for: automotive fuel (20.8 percent vs 23.1 percent in January), non-food products (4.1 percent vs 11.4 percent), electronic goods and furniture (5 percent vs 11.2 percent), recreational goods and culture (8.2 percent vs 16.8 percent) and for trade via mail or internet (16.8 percent vs 40.4 percent). In addition, sales of food products (-0.2 percent vs 2.7 percent) and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (-0.1 percent vs 9.1 percent) dropped. In contrast, sales of textiles, clothing and footwear rose further (1.8 percent vs 1.7 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales declined 6.1 percent, after an upwardly revised 21.5 percent drop in January.

Meanwhile, production rebounded for mining (16.1 percent from -4.6 percent); water supply, sewerage and waste management (4 percent from -0.9 percent) and for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (12.2 percent from -6.4 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial output went up 1.1 percent from an upwardly revised 1.9 percent increase in January.

Lithuania Producer Prices Change at 9.80 percent  
Lithuania's producer prices increased by 9.8 percent year-on-year in February 2017, following an 8 percent gain in the previous month. It was the highest producer inflation since November 2011, as prices rose at a faster pace for: Manufacturing (11.9 percent from 10.7 percent in January); and water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (8.6 percent from 7.6 percent). Additional upward pressure came from mining and quarrying (7.9 percent from 8 percent in January) while cost fell at a slower pace for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-7.1 percent from -13.1 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.2 percent after jumping by 1.3 percent in January.

Lithuania's consumer prices advanced 3 percent year-on-year in February of 2017, following a 2.3 percent increase in the previous month. It is the highest inflation rate since October of 2012, as prices rose faster for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.4 percent vs 3.6 percent in January), transport (8 percent vs 6.7 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.6 percent vs 3.6 percent), miscellaneous goods and services (4.8 percent vs 2.7 percent) and furniture and household equipment (2 percent vs 1.6 percent). Additional upward pressure came from recreation and culture (0.7 percent vs 0.9 percent) and health (1 percent vs 1.5 percent). In addition, cost fell less for housing and utilities (-2.1 percent vs -2.6 percent) and clothing and footwear (-0.1 percent vs -0.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.3 percent, the same pace as in January.

Lithuania GDP Growth Rate at 1.40 percent  
The Lithuanian economy expanded 1.4 percent quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2016, compared to an upwardly revised 0.5 percent growth in the previous period, and above preliminary estimates of 1.3 percent. It was the highest expansion since the third quarter of 2012 mainly driven by gross fixed capital formation (+4.1 percent from -1.2 percent). Private spending slowed (0.5 percent from 1.3 percent), government spending rose at the same pace as in the previous quarter (0.3 percent) and exports (1.1 percent from 0.8 percent) and imports (1.1 percent from 0.5 percent) rose further. On a yearly basis, the GDP advanced 3.2 percent compared to 1.7 percent in the previous quarter. Considering full 2016, the economy expanded 2.2 percent compared with 1.8 percent in 2015.
