Montenegro Industrial Production at -19.50 percent  
Industrial production in Montenegro went down 19.5 percent year-on-year in January of 2017, after rising by 9.1 percent in the previous month. It was the highest decrease since November of 2014, as output fell sharply for non-durables (-45.9 percent from +9.1 percent in December of 2016), energy (-23.4 percent from +17.5 percent) and capital goods (-7.3 percent from -17.6 percent). In addition, output for consumer durables rose slightly less (+9.7 percent from +10.4 percent) while intermediate goods increased further (+6.5 percent from +3.4 percent). By sector, production went down for manufacturing (-21.6 percent from +2.4 percent) and electricity, gas, steam (-26.3 percent from 20.1 percent) while accelerated for mining (53.3 percent from 7.6 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production declined 36.6 percent compared to 1 percent rise in December.

On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 14 percent compared with 9 percent drop in the previous period. Considering full 2016, retail sales rose 2.4 percent.
