The Government of New Zealand announced on 24 January 2017 that the minimum hourly wage will increase by 50 cents to NZD 15.75 on 1 April 2017. Also, the starting-out and training minimum wage rates will increase from NZD 12.20 to NZD 12.60 per hour, remaining at 80 percent of the adult minimum wage. Minimum Wages in New Zealand averaged 13.25 NZD/Hour from 2006 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 15.75 NZD/Hour in 2017 and a record low of 10.25 NZD/Hour in 2006.
