Prices rose more than in a month earlier for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.0 percent from 0.1 percent) and clothing (2.1 percent from -1.2 percent). Core consumer prices rose 1.7 percent year-on-year, following a 1.6 percent rise in February and in line with consensus. Compared to the prior month, core consumer prices rose 0.4 percent, compared to a 0.5 percent in gain in February.

Norway GDP Growth Rate at 1.10 percent  
The Norwegian economy grew by 1.1 percent quarter-on-quarter in the Q4 2016, following an upwardly revised 0.6 percent contraction in Q3 and beating market consensus of a 0.7 percent growth. It was the first expansion since the Q1 2016, mainly due to a surge in petroleum activities and ocean transport (4.3 percent from -3.2 percent in Q3). On the expenditure side, household consumption recovered (0.7 percent from stagnation) and government spending rose 0.5 percent (the same as in the previous period). Meanwhile, investment increased by 0.6 percent, slowing from a 1.2 percent rise in Q3. In contrast, exports fell 1.3 percent (+0.4 percent in Q3). Imports declined by 1.5 percent (-0.5 percent). Year-on-year, the economy expanded 1.8 percent, following a 0.9 percent contraction in Q3. In 2016, the economy advanced 1 percent, slowing from a 1.6 percent expansion in 2015. It is the lowest growth rate in 3 years, due to a slowdown in household spending and a fall in exports.
