Sudan Inflation Rate at 30.47 percent


Consumer prices in Sudan rose 30.47 percent year-on-year in December 2016, following a 29.49 percent increase in November. It was the highest inflation rate since September 2014, as food and energy prices kept rising mainly due to cut in subsidies in November. Meanwhile, Sudan has banned imports of meat and fish and raised import tariffs on other goods, pushing up inflation in a country that relies heavily on imported goods.
