East Timor Consumer Prices Falls in May

The consumer prices in East Timor fell 0.2% year-on-year in May 2025 from a 0.5% rise in the previous month.
This marked the first decline in three months, as prices tumbled for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.3% vs 1.0%).
Deflation also persisted for transport (-1.8% vs -1.7% in April), and alcohol and tobacco (-0.9% vs -1.4%), while it remained unchanged for communication (at -0.9%).
Moreover, price growth moderated for furnishing, household equipment & routine household maintenance (0.7% vs 0.8%).
In contrast, inflation edged up for clothing (0.9% vs 0.8%), while it maintained the same pace for recreation and culture (0.6%) and education (0.4%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in May, following a 0.1% gain in the preceding period.
