Ethiopia Inflation Eases to 4-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Ethiopia edged down to 13.7% in July 2025, the lowest in four months, from 13.9% in the previous month.
Price growth slowed for housing and utilities (14.3% vs 18.4% in June), restaurants and hotels (16.7% vs 17.2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (10.7% vs 13.9%).
On the other hand, food inflation picked up (12.1% vs 11.7%), driven by higher prices for vegetables (18% vs 14.9%), other food products (19.4% vs 18.8%), non-alcoholic beverage (52.3% vs 47.4%), and meat (12.1% vs 12%).
Prices for clothing and footwear also increased at a faster pace (16.1% vs 13.8%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew by 1.7% in July, accelerating from a 0.5% rise in June.
