Hungary Retail Sales Eases to 4-Month Low

Retail sales in Hungary increased by 1.7% year-on-year in July 2025, slowing from the previous month’s 3% growth.
This marked the softest rise in retail trade since March, as sales growth eased for food, beverages, and tobacco (2.3% vs 3.7% in June) and non-food products (2.9% vs 3.9%).
At the same time, trade in automotive fuel declined by 2.4% reversing a 2.5% increase in June.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales fell by 0.5% in July, the same pace as in the previous month.
Considering January to July, retail sales were 2.9% higher compared to the same period a year earlier.
