Senegal GDP Growth Slows in Q2

The economy of Senegal advanced by 3.2% from a year ago in the second quarter of 2023, after a 4.7% rise in the previous three-month period, which was the strongest since Q1 2022.
The expansion was mainly driven by primary activities (+5.5%), mostly agriculture (+5.8%) and livestock (+6.1%); along with services (+4.5%), especially specialized, scientific, and technical activities (7.7%), trade (4.7%), financial and insurance activities (4.3%) and information and communication activities (4.1%).
The industrial sector also contributed positively to growth, rising 3%.
On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the GDP rose by 0.1%, following a downwardly revised 0.5% decrease in the prior period.
