In Armenia, industrial production measures the output of businesses integrated in industrial sector of the economy. Manufacturing is the most important sector and accounts for 61 percent of total production. The biggest segments within manufacturing are: food products (20 percent); metals (11 percent); tobacco (9 percent); and drinks (7 percent). Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply accounts for 20 percent of total output, mining and quarrying for 18 percent and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation for 1 percent.

Armenia Industrial Output Falls for 2nd Month
Armenia’s industrial production dropped 14.8% year-on-year in December 2024, easing from a 19% slump in the previous month. This marks the second consecutive period of falling industrial output. On a monthly basis, industrial production jumped 17.7%, sharply rebounding from a 0.5% drop in November. Considering January to December, industrial activity was 4.7% higher compared last year.

The latest figure marked the first decline in industrial activity since September 2023. On a monthly basis, industrial output fell by 0.5% in November, following a 10.9% rise in October. Considering January to November, industrial production was 7.6% higher compared to the same period last year.

This marked the 13th consecutive period of rising industrial activity and the steepest since May. On a monthly basis, industrial output advanced 10.9%, picking up from a 1.6% growth in September. Considering January to October, industrial production was 11.7% higher than the same period last year.
