Finnish Jobless Rate Hits 5-Year High

Finland’s unemployment rate climbed to 10.5% in May 2025 from 10.2% in the same month of the previous year.
This marked the highest jobless rate since May 2020, as the number of unemployed persons jumped by 9 thousand from a year earlier to 308 thousand, while the number of employed persons decreased by 19 thousand to 2.626 million.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for people aged 15-24 dropped to 28.1%, which was 2.2 percentage points lower than a year ago.
The activity rate for persons aged 15 to 74 fell to 70.4% from 70.9% a year ago, while the employment rate for persons aged 20 to 64 went down to 77% from 77.8%.
