This marked the strongest growth since August 2021, as sales rebounded significantly for food, beverages and tobacco (22.5% vs -0.5% in May). Macedonia Retail Sales Rebound in May
Retail sales in Macedonia rose by 2.8% year-on-year in May 2025, rebounding from a 1% fall in the previous month. This marked the strongest growth in retail activity since December, driven by a significant upturn in sales of non-food products (5.1% vs -6.4% in April). Additionally, trade growth continued to increase for automotive fuel (4.1% vs 6.1%). On the other hand, activity declined at a faster pace for food, beverages, and tobacco (-0.5% vs -0.1%).
