Mali Balance of Trade
Mali’s systemic trade deficit is mainly due to its import dependency. Furthermore, Mali’s exports are vulnerable to price fluctuations and weather conditions. Mali exports mostly gold (72 percent of total exports) and cotton (10 percent). Mali is a net importer of oil and capital equipment. Main trading partners are: Senegal, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
