The Romanian GDP increased 0.3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, unchanged from the second estimate, but easing from 0.5% in the previous three-month period.
This marked the softest growth in a year, largely due to a decline in government spending (-7.3%) and household consumption (-0.3%).
Meanwhile, gross fixed capital formation surged by 20.3%.
On net external demand, exports grew 6.3%, outpacing the 3.6% rise in imports.
On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy stagnated in the March quarter, following 0.5% growth in the prior quarter.
