Romania’s annual inflation rate rose to 7.84% in July 2025 from 5.66% in the previous month, exceeding market expectations of a 6.4% increase.

This marked the highest reading since October 2023, driven by a sharp rise in prices for non-food products, which advanced to 8.18% from 3.9% in June.

Costs also edged higher for food products (7.67% vs 7.36%) and services (7.33% vs 7.05%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices climbed 2.68% in July, the fastest pace in over three years, from 0.45% in the prior month.
