Uruguay Current Account Deficit Shrink in Q4
Uruguay posted a current account deficit of USD 383 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, shrinking from a USD 540 million gap in the same period last year, mostly due to an increase in the goods balance. The goods and services surplus expanded to USD 727 million from USD 639 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, the primary income deficit shrank slightly to USD 1,159 million from USD 1,228 million, and the secondary income surplus remained at USD 49 million.

Uruguay Current Account Gap Narrows in Q3
Uruguay posted a current account deficit of USD 141 million in the third quarter of 2024, shrinking from a revised USD 788 million gap in the same period last year, mostly due to an increase in the goods balance. The goods surplus expanded significantly to USD 1,006 million from USD 742 million a year earlier, and the services deficit narrowed to USD 40 million from USD 142 million. Meanwhile, the primary income deficit widened slightly to USD 1,153 million from USD 1,052 million, and the secondary income surplus rose to USD 46 million from USD 41 million.

Uruguay Current Account Swings to Surplus in Q2
Uruguay's current account shifted to a USD 51 million surplus in the second quarter of 2024, up from an upwardly revised USD 593 million surplus in the same period last year, primarily driven by an increase in the goods balance. The goods and services surplus expanded significantly to USD 1,276 million from USD 682 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, the primary income deficit narrowed slightly to USD 1,267 million from USD 1,308 million, and the secondary income surplus rose to USD 43 million from USD 33 million.
