MFA Financial, Inc. is a real estate investment trust company. The Company is primarily engaged in the business of investing, on a leveraged basis, in residential mortgage assets, including residential whole loans, residential mortgage securities and mortgage servicing rights (MSR)-related assets. The Company offers residential whole loans, including purchased performing loans, purchased credit deteriorated, non-performing loans and own residential real estate (REO). The Company also invest in residential mortgage securities, including credit risk transfer (CRT) securities. Its MSR-related assets, which include term notes backed directly or indirectly by MSRs.
