Qatar Balance of Trade at 7703.00 QAR Million


Trade surplus in Qatar narrowed to 7.7 billion riyals in October of 2016, compared to an 11.7 billion riyals surplus a year earlier. Exports plunged by 14.9% percent to 18.7 billion riyals, mainly driven by lower sales of petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons (-19.8 percent). Major exports destinations were Japan (21 percent of total sales); South Korea (16.3 percent); India (11 percent); China (8.5 percent) and the UAE (7 percent). In contrast, imports rose 6.5 percent to 11 billion riyals mainly due to increase in electrical apparatus for line telephony/telegraphy; telephone sets (48.1 percent) and for parts of aircraft and helicopters (+92 percent) while motor cars and other passengers vehicles went down (-28.1 percent). Main import partners were the USA (22.9 percent of total imports); Germany (10.4 percent); China (10.1 percent); the UAE (8.7 percent) and Japan (6.8 percent).
