Consumer prices in East Timor rose 0.5 percent year-on-year in April of 2017 compared to a 0.3 percent gain in the previous month. It was the third straight month of increase and the highest inflation rate since September 2015 as prices went up at a faster pace for: food & non-alcoholic beverages (+0.9 percent from +0.8 percent in the prior period) and alcohol & tobacco (+0.5 percent from +0.3 percent). In addition, prices rebounded for transport (+0.2 percent from -0.3 percent) and rose at the same pace for health (1.9 percent) and recreation & culture (0.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices in East Timor were flat.
