Consumer prices in Morocco increased 0.1 percent year-on-year in March of 2017, following 1.6 percent rise in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since September of 2014, as prices fell for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.8 percent from 1.6 percent in February) and rose at a slower pace for recreation and culture (1.1 percent from 1.6 percent) and transport (3.3 percent from 3.8 percent). Meantime, inflation was steady for: clothing and footwear (1.3 percent); housing and utilities (1.1 percent); education (2.9 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (0.4 percent). In contrast, prices accelerated for health (0.8 percent from 0.5 percent) and restaurants and hotels (3.9 percent from 3.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.6 percent.

Morocco GDP Annual Growth Rate at 4.30 percent  
Morocco's economy grew 4.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2017 compared with 1.7 percent in the same period a year earlier, as agricultural output rebounded sharply by 12.9 percent (-9 percent in Q1 2016). Excluding agriculture, the GDP increased 3 percent (2.3 percent in Q1 2016), driven by the activities of the tertiary sector, in particular trade and transport activities, and tourism. Also, the secondary sector grew 2.9 percent, mainly boosted by mining production (11.8 percent from 5.4 percent in Q1 2016); while output slowed for manufacturing (2.4 percent from 2.8 percent in Q1 2016) and construction (0.8 percent from 2.3 percent). Morocco's planning agency said second quarter growth for 2017 was seen at 4.6 percent.
