Hungary Retail Sales Growth Accelerates in October

Retail sales in Hungary advanced by 3.6% year-on-year in October 2024, accelerating from a 1.7% rise in the previous month.

This also marked the tenth consecutive period of growth, as sales rose faster for food, beverages & tobacco (4.8% vs 1.5% in September), and automotive fuel declined at a softer pace (-0.1% vs –5%).

Meanwhile, trade growth moderated for non-food products (3.3% vs 5.7%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales jumped 1.2%, rebounding from a 1.4% drop in September.

Considering January to October, retail trade was 2.8% higher compared to the same period last year.
