Lebanon Inflation Rate at 5.12 percent  
Consumer prices in Lebanon jumped 5.12 percent year-on-year in March of 2017, following a 4.93 percent rise in the prior month. It is the highest inflation rate since June of 2013, mainly boosted by prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.41 percent vs 1.44 percent in February), transport (9.81 percent vs 9.40 percent), clothing and footwear (10.25 percent vs 6.69 percent) and communication (0.45 percent vs 0.25 percent). Meanwhile, cost slowed for housing (7.89 percent vs 9.09 percent) and education (2.65 percent vs 2.73 percent) and fell for health (-1.53 percent vs -1.34 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.66 percent after a 0.55 percent increase in February.
