Hong Kong Imports See Strong Growth in April

Imports to Hong Kong surged 15.8% year-on-year to $450.5 billion in April 2025, following a 16.6% rise in the previous month.
Imports rose notably from Vietnam (107.3%), the United Kingdom (59.5%), Taiwan (50.6%), Mainland China (14.8%), and the US (13.1%) but declined from South Korea (-21.3%).
By product category, imports increased for electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and electrical parts thereof (16.8% vs 11.5%), office machines and automatic data processing machines (67.1% vs 130.8%), telecommunications and sound recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment (29.5% vs 0.7%), and power-generating machinery & equipment (20.4% vs 31.1%).
In contrast, imports declined further for miscellaneous manufactured articles (-8.7% vs -2.9%), non-metallic mineral manufactures (-15.0% vs -9.4%), and petroleum, petroleum products and related materials (-18.2% vs -10.4%).
