In addition, the labour force decreased 0.4 percent to 924.1 percent to thousand. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was higher at 12.3 percent.

Slovenia Industrial Production at 10.20 percent  
Industrial production in Slovenia increased 10.2 percent year-on-year in December of 2016, following a 7.4 percent rise in the previous month. It was the biggest gain in industrial output since December of 2010, boosted by manufacturing (12 percent compared with 8.9 percent in November), namely leather and related products (56.8 percent) and other transport equipment (126.9 percent). In addition, production recovered for electricity, steam and gas (+0.4 percent from -3.5 percent) while output fell faster for mining and quarrying (-22.5 percent from -13.6 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 1.3 percent compared to 0.9 percent in the previous month mainly boosted by manufacturing. In 2016, industrial output went up 6.6 percent compared to 2015, as manufacturing rose 8 percent and mining and quarrying increased 2.3 percent offsetting a 5.3 percent drop in electricity, gas and steam.

Exports went up 4 percent while imports rose at slower 3.3 percent.

In addition, prices of miscellaneous goods and services rose at the same pace as in the previous month (1.6 percent) and declined less for clothing and footwear (-1.8 percent from -2.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.6 percent compared with a 0.5 percent drop in the previous month.

Slovenia GDP Annual Growth Rate at 2.70 percent  
The Slovenian economy expanded 2.7 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2016, compared to an upwardly revised 2.8 percent growth in the previous period. Household spending grew at a slower 2.6 percent (+3.4 percent in Q2) and government expenditure went up 1.6 percent (+2 percent in Q2) while gross fixed capital formation slumped 3.6 percent (-3.4 percent in Q1), mainly due to lower investment in buildings and structures (-17.4 percent). The net trade contributed positively, as exports expanded 5.4 percent (+7.7 percent in Q2) while imports increased 4.5 percent (+8.2 percent in Q2). Quarter-on-quarter, the GDP advanced 1 percent.

S&P Global Ratings has revised its outlook for Slovenia's sovereign credit rating to positive from stable and affirmed the country’s long-term foreign credit rating at 'A', on prospects of robust economic growth, supported by strong net exports and increasing private consumption. Moody's credit rating for Slovenia was last set at Baa3 with positive outlook. Fitch's credit rating for Slovenia was last reported at A- with stable outlook.
