Consumer confidence in Austria jumped to 8 in January of 2017 from -2 in the previous month. It was the highest figure since July of 2011, as households considered it is a better moment to make major purchases (21 from 12 in December of 2016) and were more optimistic about their own financial situation (5 from 0). In addition, savings intentions for the year ahead increased (21 from 18) and a rise in unemployment was seen less likely (-40 from -44). Consumer Confidence in Austria averaged -6.83 from 1996 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 33 in June of 2007 and a record low of -56 in January of 2009.
