Laos Balance of Trade
As a landlocked communist state, Laos has a relatively closed economy and engages in trade with only a few neighbouring countries. Laos consistently runs trade deficits due to its underdeveloped infrastructure and undiversified export base. Laos' main exports are wood, clothing, coffee, electricity, metals, corn and rubber. Laos mainly imports oil, machinery and equipment, vehicles, iron and steel, telecommunication equipment, beverages and cement.
