Imports to Chile increased by 11.3 percent from the previous year to USD 5.21 billion in March 2017, due to higher purchases of consumer goods (24.1 percent), mainly vehicles (74.8 percent) and clothing (5.8 percent); and intermediate goods (12.2 percent), of which energy products (30.5 percent). By contrast imports of capital goods dropped 9.2 percent. Imports in Chile averaged 2842.61 USD Million from 1991 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 7875.12 USD Million in October of 2012 and a record low of 492.60 USD Million in February of 1991.
