Eurozone house prices rose by 3.4 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2016, following a 3 percent increase in the previous period. It was the largest gain since 3.5 percent in the first quarter of 2008, before the global financial crisis, as prices rose in Ireland (+7.1 percent), Germany (+6.2 percent), Spain (+4 percent), the Netherlands (+4 percent) and France (+1.8 percent), but continued to decline in Italy (-0.9 percent). On a quarterly basis, house prices went up 1.3 percent after rising by 1.5 percent in the precedent period. Housing Index in the Euro Area averaged 98.57 Index Points from 2005 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 102.94 Index Points in the third quarter of 2016 and a record low of 88.52 Index Points in the first quarter of 2005.
