The US Social Security rate is the statutory percentage of earnings used to fund the Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program and Medicare’s Hospital Insurance (HI) program. It represents the portion of wages subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes, up to the OASDI earnings limit, that is credited to the respective trust funds.
