United States Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index  1959-2017

The price index for consumer spending in the United States increased 0.4 percent in January of 2017 from December 2016, following 0.2 percent rise in the previous period. It was the biggest increase since February 2013. Cost of goods went up 0.9 percent (0.1 percent in December) and prices of services increased 0.2 percent (at the same pace as in December). Compared to the same month a year earlier, the PCE price index went up 1.9 percent, following 1.6 percent in the previous month. Excluding food and energy, prices increased 0.3 percent, above market expectations of 0.2 percent. Year-on-year, core price index rose 1.7 percent. Pce Price Index in the United States averaged 59.87 Index Points from 1959 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 112.08 Index Points in January of 2017 and a record low of 17.12 Index Points in January of 1959.
