The number of unemployed declined 1 percent to 1,216,870 persons and employment edged up 0.5 percent to 3,543,651 persons. The number of inactive decreased 0.3 percent to 3,334,628 persons in March.
A year earlier, unemployment rate was recorded at 27 percent. The number of unemployed persons fell 6.1 percent while employment rose 1.4 percent. The number of inactive persons declined 0.6 percent.
Unemployment affected mainly people aged 15 to 24 years in April of 2015 as more than half of young active population was unemployed (53.2 percent). Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 55.4 percent a year earlier.
The unemployment rate for males decreased 2 p.p. to 22.2 percent from 24.2 percent in April 2014 and for females it was down by a slower 0.9 p.p. to 29.8 percent when compared to 30.7 percent last year.
